Who We Are

Mark Cordover

Mark Cordover is founder and CEO of IT.com. Mr. Cordover works extensively at the intersection of finance and technology. He founded a hedge fund in 1983 which continues today as a private investment vehicle. He has co-founded a portfolio management software company (AFS Trade), was an early investor in the first Internet Service Provider (PSINet), where he worked closely with the founders to effect the first trial of internet over cable TV lines in 1995 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, marking the beginning of the disintermediation of the PTTs and the building of the converged network. He then guided them through a public offering and a substantial secondary public financing. In Europe, he established a joint venture for PSINet to provide an internet backbone throughout the continent over the Hermes Railtel railroad rights-of-way, which project was substantially financed by George Soros. Cordover subsequently seed financed the first online customer service software company (Business Evolution Inc) which was sold to Kana for $140mm, and also invested in Crossgain, the first company to attempt to offer web services on a hosted basis, which was sold to BEA systems in 2001.

Jason Pratt

Jason Pratt manages operations and develops partnerships and business opportunities for IT.com. Mr. Pratt holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan and has wide experience in the technology space, having spearheaded the design and development of enterprise applications in a variety of entrepreneurial settings. For several years, Mr. Pratt led the software engineering team at ePrize, the world leader in online promotions. Prior to that, he headed several engineering teams as the chief engineer for DaimlerChrysler's domestic and international brand site development.

Aron Culotta

Aron Culotta leads our scientific effort to invent and apply machine learning techniques to our applications. He is responsible for all aspects of topic imputation and its use in the service of information retrieval. He is currently writing his doctoral thesis on “Learning and Inference in Probabilistic Logic with Application to Natural Language Processing”. He holds an MS degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and will complete his PhD in 2007. He has written over twenty papers on machine learning involving information extraction, topic modeling, and relation and pattern discovery. He is a Microsoft Research Fellow, and has interned at Google and IBM. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from both Tulane University in Computer Science and and from the Jesuit High School in New Orleans, La.

Andy Liu

Andy Liu has worked for small internet startups for a number of years. Before working at IT.com, he held software engineering positions at ePrize and Wondir (Revolution Health Group), where he designed and built complex high-volume applications for the web. At IT.com, Mr. Liu is Lead Search Engineer, responsible for developing the search techniques that power IT.com.

Mr. Liu holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.

Philip Ogren

Philip Ogren has over nine years of experience developing text analysis applications for large document sets. Prior to joining IT.com Mr. Ogren spent several years as a senior analyst and programmer at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota, developing text analysis applications for bioinformatics. He holds B.S. in Mathematics, a Masters in Computer Science, and is currently completing a PhD in Computer Science.

Seth Green

Seth Green is responsible for managing user experience design and web application development at IT.com, and brings extensive client-facing and server-side development experience to the company. After studying Computer Science at the University of Maryland, Mr. Green went on to serve as a software engineer on the rapid application development team at Wave Systems, a computer security solutions provider. Most recently, he was a web developer at the non-profit Optical Society of America, where he designed interfaces and managed application development.

Paige Jeffries

Paige Brown Jeffries has over twenty six years of professional financial accounting experience having earned her CPA in 1982. She no longer practices as a CPA but rather has focused for the last ten years on financially managing concerns with respect to controls, compliance, reporting and overall due diligence. Having been a member of Beta Alpha Psi - the honor society for accounting excellence - Paige brings to IT.com a level of excellence that matches our commitment to it. She has been actively involved with the hedge fund (ITC) that funded IT.com for nearly twenty years.
